About Us
Notyamama's Cookies started over 4 years ago in the kitchen of Kevin and Tassie Small. The Small's started this business in Maryland and it was birthed from the fact that Kevin Small didn't want to eat cookie crumbs.
Ya see, Kevin was a high school teacher and at his school the students would sell cookies during lunch for fundraisers and by the time Kevin made it to the cafeteria all the cookies were gone. There was nothing left but crumbs. Being that Kevin loved desserts he found it quite frustrating that he could never get these cookies so he decided to come home and start baking his own.
He tried recipes from the back of cake boxes which made an "ok" cookie but then he stumbled upon a recipe that made a "good" cookie. That led him to tweak the recipe to something that would make it a GREAT cookie! Once his wife Tassie tasted his new cookie she immediately fell in love. "Kevin, you need to sell these cookies!", was the first thing she said after eating a few.
Kevin did not bite the concept of him selling the cookies until a friend of theirs, named Lisa, was having a Thanksgiving party at her job and asked if Kevin could make the cookies she signed up to bring. Notyamama's Cookies was born that night, the night before Lisa had to take them to work.
Kevin, with his clever mind came up with the name Notyamama's Cookies. The name of the original cookie (the ones Lisa took to work) was Funky Double Walnut Crackin'. Once Lisa's co-workers tasted the cookies...well the rest is history. Orders started pouring in and Notyamama's Cookies came to life!
They have been on a continuous journey ever since; baking up some of the most delicious cookies. They are currently located in Raleigh and once you taste them you will see why they are Not Ya Mama's Cookies!
